She moved to New York City in 1972 and with her husband, Mark J. Mirsky began publishing a literary magazine, 'Fiction' which continues to be published to this day. Originally studying sculpture at the New School, Grytting began to create abstract, process-based drawings and paintings, which have been exhibited in Norway and in the United States.
