Coloradans Face Rising Municipal Bear Activity
When natural food sources such as acorns and berries fail to feed black bears, the animals often find new sources of food among humans. And that's leading to bears being euthanized. Some Colorado communities are trying to get residents to use bear-resistant trash cans. And one group from Boulder is experimenting with planting "buffer zones" of natural food in the bear's habitat to keep them fed without encroaching on populated areas.
