Description

Are you wondering how you can help grassroots animal welfare organizations while in lockdown? Look no further!

On this episode of the Pawareness Podcast, we welcome Paris Miller, Founder and Executive Director of Project Canis, whose mission is to help animals in shelters by giving them toys made from recycled materials. This college student-run organization is already making a huge impact in Florida’s animal shelters and they’ve only been up and running for one year!

The best part is, it doesn’t matter what state you live in, you can get involved and help make a difference in the lives of shelter animals by volunteering with Project Canis from the comfort of your home, at zero cost to you. Paris speaks on about the enormous impacts of donating toys to animal shelters, such as improving the animals’ physical and mental wellbeing and helping them get adopted.

“The reality is that animals in shelters are left alone for hours on end overnight when there’s no shelter staff around and having just one toy can really provide a sense of comfort to an animal.” - Paris Miller

Tune in to see what kinds of toys Project Canis accepts, to learn more about the future of Project Canis, and to discover how you can volunteer with them or organize a service project of your own!
