1834: Late-season storm brings snow from Ohio to New England
Late season snowstorms, like those in the autumn can cause havoc in a different way than those in the middle of winter. Many trees in both seasons are in full or partial leaf, as are bushes and other shrubby. In the middle of winter, snow’s greatest impact is on the inability to travel due to impassible roads or severe drifting that blocks doorways and even makes walking difficult. In the fall and spring, because of more sunlight it is hard for the snow to accumulate on the warmer streets and sidewalks so that usually isn’t much of a pr...

张尧浠:通胀预期继续推升、黄金关注1834得失跟进走强 上交易日周二(11月9日):国际黄金伦敦金再度先行回落后走高,留下部分下影线收阳为第四连涨。 走势上,金价自亚市早盘开于1824.92美元/盎司,因美指及美债的窄幅运行,令其金价白盘整体维持在8美金左右的盘整,且先行录得日内低点1818.94美元,之后美盘初,因投资者等待定于本周晚些时候公布的美国通胀数据预期将上升,而打压美指及美债收益率走软,令金价先行反弹触及美元1830美元后遇阻回落至1820美元,但主要央行上周暗示短期内利率将维持在低位的情况下,最终通胀的上升还是仍利好行情再度走强,并重回高点且有所刷新,录得日内高点1832.40美元,收于1831.51美元,日振幅13.46美元,收涨6.59美元,涨幅0.36%。 展望今日周三(11月10日):国际黄金开盘继续先行走软,受到布拉德的鹰派讲话限制金价涨势,也令美指及美债收益率止跌运行对其产生压力,另外技术上,隔夜再度触及的高点也有较强的阻力打压。 日内重点关注晚上21:30出炉的美国10月CPI以及因美国退伍军人节,而提前初请失业金人数。目前预计CPI将继续上涨,对金价可能利多,如果弱于预期,预期也是短线利空金价。另外初请预计也有所利空,但也影响有限,走势预计也将和周二雷同,关注具体运行情况。实际操作以实仓信息为准。 基本面上,近日主要因为美联储等央行保持低利率环境,以及不急于加息,而使其美元及美债收益率的疲软走势支撑金价,另外隔夜PPI指数高企也令通胀预期居高不下,也导致了本周后市的一定看涨预期。投资者等待晚间将公布的通胀数据以衡量物价是否加速上升。 观点上,美国劳动力市场吃紧以及全球供应链混乱,可能导致公布的美国消费者物价指数(CPI)升至高位。如果市场看到消费者物价指数高于预期,那么肯定会有人认为美联储现在必须加快加息步伐,但美联储并没有一套具体的标准去判定。故此也只会在短暂打压金价后,又再度推动金价走高。 因而总的来看,金价目前涨势良好,短期需要关几度7月和8月未能突破升穿该水准遭遇的重要阻力位1834,日内需要关注这一水平的得失,如果突破有望继续上攻,并迈向1870美元附近,反之可能承压下行,但下方关注周图中轨及百周线支撑仍保持中长期看涨。 技术上:周线级别:金价延续上周反弹突破中轨及30周均线阻力后的力量保持走强,不过力度上有所减弱,短期还将面临38.2%回撤线的关键阻力,不过附图指标KDJ及MACD继续保持明显的看涨信号,主图金价运行在上行通道中,且各均线集中在下方产生支撑,布林带也开口向上运行,因而向上走高突破阻力的概率较大,关注下方均线支撑仍是不错的入场机会。 日线级别:金价周二再度走强收阳,连续第四日收涨,不过走势连续穿插上轨反弹,附图指标也仍偏转弱,暗示反弹难以继续持续下去,或有回落的风险,但目前金价走势明显上攻,故此回落也难以打破近期的反弹趋势,因而回落关注反弹的趋势通道支撑,仍将是再度的看涨机会。 具体点位参考下方; 国际黄金:下方关注1825美元,以及1818美元附近支撑;上方方关注1836美元附近,以及1850美元目标阻力; 白银TD:上方关注4990元/千克,以及5030元/千克阻力;下方关注4920元/千克,以及4890元/千克支撑;

However, just like any technology, people have a way of corrupting it. In this case, a couple of brothers managed to make it work for them, making them lots of money...

June 24, 1834 - St. Jean Baptiste Day
Quebec’s Saint Jean Baptiste Day gets its origins. The pagan celebrations of the summer solstice turned into a religious celebration during the reign of King Clovis of France in the 5th century. He decided to mark the birth of John the Baptist, the man who baptized Jesus Christ, on June 24. Given the date’s proximity to the summer solstice, it’s celebrated with bonfires symbolizing lighting up the world. European Catholics, especially in France, celebrate it with vigor, as do Quebecers, who call it the Fête Nationale (National Holiday). In Canada the holiday began on June 24, 1834 when 60 prominent Francop...

The Pinjarra Massacre 28 October 1834
The story of colonial Australia is as much a story of dispossession as it is of settlement, and dispossession often went hand in hand with terrible brutality. As a result, a great many regions of Australia have massacres of Indigenous peoples woven into their story—some are widely acknowledged, some will never be fully known, and others are sources of historical argument. And so today we’re looking at a violent incident that occurred in Western Australia 178 years ago, in which 21 Nyoongar people were killed in a raid by mounted troops. The place was Pinjarra, about an hour’s drive south...

Camille COROT, Bridge on the Saône River at Mâcon [also known as Village on the riverbank [Le Village au bord de la rivière]] 1834
Corot was modest and chaste. He never married, in company was nearly always overlooked, the Salon ‘treated him rudely,’ and the only painting by him to enter the Luxembourg Museum was ‘bought almost accidentally by the state in 1851’.1Yet the great Charles Baudelaire was one of many who admired the qualities of simplicity and sureness in Corot’s art and personality – traits that were at the opposite extreme to Baudelaire’s flamboyance. Corot, he wrote, exerted complete control over his compositions, guaranteeing that every element would be well seen, well observed, well understood and well imagined.2 In Bridge on the Saône River at...

John CONSTABLE, Old Sarum 1834
Old Sarum is an ancient mound one and a half miles north of Salisbury. It was an Iron Age hillfort, later occupied by the Romans, the Saxons and the Normans. The Normans built a castle within the perimeter of the mound and a cathedral below it, but disputes between soldiers and priests, plus inadequate water supplies, led to the building of New Sarum (the present city of Salisbury) in 1226. The cathedral was dismantled and a new one built at Salisbury, and the old settlement began to fade away. In Constable’s time Old Sarum was still an impressive feature on th...
