May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, a time to celebrate Asian American culture and history, including the contributions of the AAPI community to America’s multi-racial democracy. At the same time, we want to recognize the challenges faced by the AAPI community, such as the intensified hate and racism targeting our community during the Covid-19 pandemic. In this episode, we speak with Annie Lee, CAA’s Policy Director, to understand CAA and Stop AAPI Hate’s work in addressing anti-Asian racism. Annie explains how Stop AAPI Hate has collected anti-Asian hate incidents, what trends we see in these reports, and how policy changes can help to address experiences of harassment on public streets, mass transit, and big businesses.
