Wenn eine Augenerkrankung mit einhergehender Sehverschlechterung vorliegt und die „normale“ Brille nicht mehr ausreicht, werden sogenannte vergrößernde Sehhilfen verordnet. Sie helfen dabei, das vorhandene Sehvermögen optimal zu nutzen oder Einschränkungen auszugleichen. Das Angebot ist sehr groß. Es reicht von der einfachen optischen Handlupe bis zum elektronischen Bildschirmlesegerät. Sollten auch diese Hilfsmittel nicht mehr ausreichen, stehen außerdem noch Vorlesesysteme zur Verfügung, damit auch Menschen mit starker Seheinschränkung nicht auf die Inhalte von Büchern und Zeitschriften verzichten müssen.
