・APDとは
聴覚情報処理障害（Auditory Processing Disorder＝APDと略されることが多い）とは、聴力は正常であるにも関わらず、日常生活のいろいろな場面で聞き取りにくさ（聞いた言葉の内容が理解しづらい状態）が生ずるというものです。
具体的には、音を収集・感知する箇所（外耳、中耳、内耳、末梢の聴神経）の機能には異常が無く、聴覚情報を処理する「脳」の中枢神経に何らかの問題がある状態です。音は聞こえているのに、「言葉の処理」ができない状態なのです。その障害をもつ潜在的な患者数は、推定240万人にものぼると言われており、日本人の約2%が該当します。APDはあまり知られていない障害でしたが、2018年にNHKで取り上げられてから、日本でも少しずつ知られるようになってきました。
