Der unerschütterliche Glaube an die Kraft der Musik hat ihn weltberühmt gemacht: Aeham Ahmad spielte auf seinem verstimmten Klavier in den Ruinen von Damaskus und sang mit Nachbarn Lieder, um ihnen Hoffnung zu geben. Bis der sogenannte "Islamische Staat" sein Instrument verbrannte. Ahmad floh ins Ruhrgebiet, wo er seit 2015 lebt. Mit Konzerten in ganz Europa macht er seitdem auf die katastrophalen Folgen des Syrienkriegs aufmerksam. Eingeladen wird er auch häufig von Kirchen, denn seine Musik überwindet sprachliche und kulturelle Barrieren.
