(With a Touch of Sarawak Independence Day & Malaysia Day)Merdeka - Malay for "Independence" - a short but very meaningful word. As recorded in history, Malaya's independence on 31 Aug 1957 was achieved not by bloodshed but with proof that the multiracial society could live harmoniously. And Malaysia is just a stronger entity with the inclusion of Sarawak and Sabah into the Federation. Thus, we talked about Sarawak Independence Day (22 July) and Malaysia Day (16 Sept) because the different people in the society is what makes Malaysia! Merdeka!
