В этом выпуске представляем Вам настоящий раритет - американская группа ASTRЁ , которая выпустила в 1981-м году один единственный альбом и исчезла.....А второй группой будет супер-трио NIACIN. Биография: Progressive power-трио Niacin было создано в 1996-м году по инициативе легендарного американского басиста Билли Шиэна (Billy Sheehan). С момента своего появления на металлической сцене в 1980-м году в составе группы TALAS, Шиэн практически не исчезал из поля зрения металлической аудитории. После короткого сотрудничества с UFO, он присоединился к сольному проекту Дэвида Ли Рота (David Lee Roth, ex- VAN HALEN), после чего создал весьма популярную, особенно в Японии, группу MR. BIG. Вторым участником проекта стал не менее известный в джазовых и фанк-кругах ударник Деннис Чамберс (Dennis Chambers), его услугами в разное время пользовались десятки звезд, в том числе такие нашумевшие группы, как PARLIAMENT, FUNKADELIC и STEELY DAN. Идея, пришедшая в голову этой потрясающей ритм-секции, была не менее потрясающей. Вспомнив о том, что было время (начало семидесятых), когда орган Хаммонд Б-3 был зачастую более важной составляющей саунда группы, чем гитара. Шиэн и Чамберс приняли решение - в трио не будет гитары, но будет клавишник, играющий именно на Б-3! Так в группе появился Джон Новелло (John Novello), тоже далеко не новичок в рок-бизнесе. Он, в свою очередь, сотрудничал с EDGAR WINTER BAND, GLENN HUGHES, MR. BIG, а также экспериментирует в рамках собственной JOHN NOVELLO BAND. Дебютный альбом, вышедший в том же году, продемонстрировал, что изначальная идея получила достойное продолжение. Надо отметить, что альбом был выпущен лейблом Stretch records, который принадлежит легендарному джазовому клавишнику Чику Kopea (Chick Corea). Niacin дали несколько концертов, так вдохновивших японцев, что год спустя они исключительно для собственной территории выпустили концертный альбом "Blood Sweet & Beers", который европейцы только-только планируют к изданию. Новый студийный альбом не заставил себя долго ждать. Пластинка "High Bias" сначала традиционно появилась в продаже в Японии на лейбле Videoarts, а уже позднее Stretch переиздали диск для американской публики. Помимо основного трио в записи альбома принимали участие еще несколько известных музыкантов: перкуссионист Алекс Акуна (Alex Acune, ex-ARCHERS, LEGENDARY HEARTS), ударник Пэт Торпи (Pat Torpey, ex- TED NUGENT, IMPELLITTERI, MR. BIG), ударник Рэйфорд Гриффин (Rayford Griffin, ex-MICHAEL COOPER), ударник Кенвуд Деннар (Kenwood Dennard) и Чик Кореа собственной персоной помог группе в записи композиции "Hang Me Upside Down". Отдав должное джаз-фьюжну, Niacin поменяли лейбл на Magna Carta и переориентировались на более близкий для нас прогрессивный звук. Новая пластинка "Deep" была наполнена клавишными пассажами в духе Джона Лорда (Jon Lord, ex- DEEP PURPLE), плюс к этому для разнообразия был приглашен вокалист Гленн Хьюз (Glenn Hughes, ex- DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH), исполнивший блюзовую вещь "Things Aint Like They Used To Be". Другим гостевым музыкантов стал хард-роковый гитарист Стив Люказер (Steve Lukather, TOTO). На сегодняшний день этот альбом, несомненно, лучший в дискографии трио. Очередная студийная работа Niacin "Time Crunch" продолжила взятый курс на прогрессив. Стоит отметить кавер-версию композиции "Blue Wind", написанной в свое время британским гитаристом Джеффом Беком (Jeff Beck). На новом альбоме трио сохранило прежний курс.
