Когда вы играете джаз, - продолжает он, - вы можете сыграть ноты правильно, и даже если вы не правильно их расставили, это ничего страшного. Но, если вы не рассчитали их по времени, это конец. Точно так же и в жизни, одна из немногих вещей, которыми обладает человек, - это его время. Вы не владеете своей жизнью. У тебя нет своей машины. Вы владеете только своим временем. Чтобы жить полноценной жизнью, вы должны беречь свое время и свой выбор времени. Время решает все, потому что время невозможно повернуть вспять.
Вот почему этого саксофониста приятно и не утомительно слушать - он играет по существу, не тратя времени в пустую. На моем канале уже есть несколько альбомов с его участием, он мне хорошо знаком и этот альбом так же заслуживает внимания, он не надоедает и его хочется повторять.
Название этой пластинки также связано с тем, как была сделана эта конкретная запись. Супервайзер сессии Дон Сиклер наградил Эрика и квартет неофициальной серебряной медалью за завершение записи этой пластинки менее чем за два часа. Я не собирался устанавливать мировой рекорд по времени записи, - заявляет Эрик, - но я хотел сделать пластинку, которая представила бы всех музыкантов на материале, который им глубоко удобен и к которому они способны сразу же проявить творческий подход. Я твердо убежден в том, что зачастую именно первые впечатления или первые вещи, которые мы показываем как в жизни, так и в музыке, даже если в них есть ошибки, становятся нашими самыми стойкими и ценными. Я не хотел делать альтернативные дубли или наложения.
Я хотел, чтобы все было так, как оно есть, и если бы что-то было слишком отвратительным, оно бы просто не вошло в альбом. Честно говоря, мне все казалось прекрасным, и я горжусь этим.

🎷Весь репертуар очень знакомый из заезженных стандартов, но есть одна вишенка - это битловский Yesterday. Хочется отметить работу звукорежисера Matt Marantz и мастера сведения Noah Kellman за прекрасный звук.

На двух композициях к квартету присоединяется замечательный трубач, добавляя высокие ноты в оригинальные композиции.
🎷Альбом разбавлен одним стандартом, который исполнен так, что я хотел довабить его в плэйлист, как лучший трек альбома, но решил, что будет правильнее добавить туда свежую композицию. В мой плэйлист отправляется пьеса Absolute Truth - Абсолютная правда, которая звучит по всем правилам старой школы, но имеет современный вид.
🎷А титульную композицию я доваблю в рождественский плэйлист - она такая же медленная, душевная и прекрасная, как и стандарт, который когда-то пел Frank Sinatra и Chet Baker.
