Overnight, she and her team launched Citizen's Kitchen, a volunteer initiative based in Tel Aviv. The Only Way Is UpAliya Fastman - Citrus & Salt - Bringing flavors of the world to your homeAliya is a Berkeley native, raised and influenced greatly by the rich Bay Area food scene. She brought this foundation for fabulous food with her and sought out the international offerings here in Israel. Realizing that much of what she was looking for was either not authentic, expensive, or inaccessible so she began making my favorite foods in my own kitchen. Everything from homemade tortillas, udon noodles and curries. Simultaneously, she started sharpening her skills in Israeli food - everything from shakshouka, to couscous to stuffed grape leaves with the goal of making these recipes accessible to non-Hebrew speakers.Â
