Brain Ponderings podcast with Dr. Mark Mattson
Andrew Pieper: Recent Evidence that Advanced Alzheimer's Disease May be Reversible
In this episode I talk with Case Western Reserve University Professor Andrew Pieper about how it might be possible to restore neuroplasticity and cognition in Alzheimer's disease. The conversation focuses on a recently published study from his laboratory which shows that a chemical called P7C3-A20 that restores energy balance in brain cells can reverse brain pathology and restore cognitive function in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease. Driven to Ride
Andrew Pieper
For generations of teenagers, a driver’s license represented independence, a milestone moment that transported fresh-faced wheelmen (and women) one step closer to adulthood. That is less so now, with fewer young drivers showing interest in taking to the road. Andrew Pieper, however, is all about bucking trends. In fact, he couldn’t wait to pass his driving exam so he could buy, you guessed it, a motorcycle.“I always wanted a bike,” admits Pieper. “When I turned 16 and got my license, I immediately got my motorcycle endorsement. I didn’t even have a car until college. I rode every...
