Scents and Sensitivity – A Conversation with Miss Layla of fūm fragrances
Miss Layla is an interdisciplinary artist and self-taught perfumer based in L.A. Her interest in fragrance and olfactive endeavors began as a small child when she learned how to cook and “taste shapes”. Later in life, Layla came to know that she had synesthesia, which she harnesses to her advantage when formulating perfume. After contracting COVID-19, she developed chemical sensitivities linked to auto-immune conditions and chronic inflammation. Her purpose and sense of identity is distorted and she struggles to relate to the world she once knew. Miss Layla’s work: www.fumfragrances.com...

Nose Candy
Ep. 47: City of (Mugler) Angels (feat. Saskia Wilson-Brown)
Pop a microdose, pull a tarot card and crack a Kin because this week the Nose Candy gals are joined by artist and Institute for Art and Olfaction founder Saskia Wilson-Brown to talk about the smell of their all-time favorite city: Los Angeles. Join these three ladies for a slow ride down LA's surface streets where they explore moldy swimsuit musk, eau de art deco, and botox base notes. Want to smell like the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland? What about the Hollywood Farmers Market? Gloria Swanson's snail trail? These three are saying it, spraying it, and...
