Avish Parashar: Saying "Yes, And" to Change
In this episode, Eric talks with speaker, author, and improviser Avish Parashar about a deceptively simple idea that shapes how people respond to uncertainty, conflict, and change: the difference between “yes, but” and “yes, and.”Drawing from decades of improv comedy and corporate leadership work, Avish argues that most organizations misunderstand resistance to change. Leaders often assume people are stubborn or hostile, when in reality many employees are overwhelmed, uncertain, or emotionally exhausted. The real challenge is not forcing acceptance. It is transforming hesitation and apathy into genuine engagement. The conversation explores how language quietly shapes o...

In a World of...Improvised Movie Homages
Blossoming Necromancer (In the Style of Mythica and a Dungeons and Dragons Movie or Game)
About this episode In this episode, we pay homage to fantasy movies in general (like the fun Mythica series) and Dungeons and Dragons movies and games. Yes, there is a scene in a tavern... We both love these types of movies and games, so we were really looking forward to the chance to play around in this genre. Summer of Decay (In the Style of a Slasher Horror Movie...)
About this episode In this episode, we pay homage to slasher movies, specifically Friday the 13th. At least that’s where we start. This being improv comedy, things take on a direction of their own and we end up with something that’s a horror movie more along the lines of Jeepers Creepers, or something more supernatural and monster based. Still, we have a lake, and a cabin, and final girl, so that’s all good. And at some point someone stumbles... Mystical Sphere of Destiny (In the Style of a Mystical Martial Arts Movie like Shang Chi and Wu Assassins...)
About this episode In this episode, we pay homage to martial arts movies. Specifically, “modern mystical martial arts movies” like the recently released Shang Chi movie. Also, TV shows like Wu Assassins and Iron Fist. We are both big fans (and practitioners) of the martial arts, and we love these types of movies. Hopefully that love shines through in this fun and action packed episode! Camp Canoe and the Flow (In the Style of a Kids Summer Camp Movie...)
About this episode In this episode, we pay homage to classic summer camp movies, like the Meatballs movie with Bill Murray or the Poison Ivy movie (the one with Micheal J. Fox, not the one with Drew Barrymore…) We attempt the difficult task of juggling a cast of characters in this ensemble style movie homage and, overall, it went pretty well. Five main kid campers, one good counselor, one bad rival camper, one bad rival counselor, and a few additional characters. A challenge, but lots of fun! Day of Humongous Vegetation (In the Style of a Disaster Movie like The Core or Armageddon)
About this episode In this episode, we pay homage to Disaster Movies. The intention when we started was to do something more like a “natural disaster movie,” but things quickly morphed into a “man messes with nature and nature bites back” disaster movie. Even with all that, we hit the main tropes and quite an act 3 twist! Improvisation is Adaptation with Avish Parashar
Avish Parashar performed improv all through high school, but he stopped in college so he could focus on his studies – a decision greatly supported by his parents. That decision lasted only a few months, however, as after seeing an improv comedy show, he fell back in love. One week later, he auditioned for the campus improv group and the rest, as they say, is history. After graduating, he started Polywampus Improv Comedy, which performed regularly in and around the Philadelphia area for seven years. He closed up Polywampus to focus on the speaking and training side of th...
