LifeServe Blood Center conducts a monthly drive in cooperation with CCMH. Community Health Needs Assessment
A Community Health Needs Assessment, or CHNA Plan, is a requirement of the Affordable Care Act which passed into law in 2012. Brandi Ruskell,Marketing and Development Coordinator for CCMH, says the CHNA Plan must be completed and posted to the CCMH website every three years. To determine the health needs of a community, three avenues for feedback are utilized: a community survey, external or public focus groups, and internal focus groups. Distracted driving is becoming a serious problem in cities and counties across the United States. In Iowa, cases of distracted driving are on the increase. Recent Iowa law says a driver using a cellphone, and causing the death of another person, has shown evidence of reckless driving and could face a felony conviction that includes up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
