I call him by his pseudonym, Danny White, but he refers to himself in this episode simply as GOD. From the late 1970s through the 1980s, Danny Smith played in some of the most original and unique bands in Erie (e.g., X-Whites, Generic Beat, Wiggling Judies, Rub The Buddah). His antics onstage were legendary, and occasionally would end up with him wearing little or nothing by the end of a show. In this frenetic interview, I try to tame the wild man long enough for him to coherently tell me his story ... and it was worth it. Don't...

Life Lessons with Dr. Steve Schell
1 - In Him
While under house arrest in Rome, Paul writes to churches he had pastored in and around Ephesus (a city on the coast of Western Asia Minor). He wants to be sure that with the passing of time this group, made up largely of converted Gentiles, does not lose sight of the wonderful things God has done for them. He wanted them to keep focused on the fact that they were "in Christ." It's easy for Christians to grow discouraged with themselves and to lose the boldness of faith that makes them spiritually effective. The devil tends to chip away...

Roger Schell, Dramatically Reducing Attack Surface Using Integrity MAC Security Kernel
We face an existential threat of permanent damage to critical physical components in our national infrastructure as a result of their poor resilience against cybersecurity attack. A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) commonly provides the control system for such components, e.g., bulk power generators. Our proof-of-concept implementation dramatically mitigates threats to such cyber-physical systems (CPS) by specifically leveraging what NIST 800-160 calls "highly assured, kernel-based operating systems in Programmable Logic Controllers".We dramatically reduce the attack surface visible to potential attackers to be ~1% of the total compared to competing approaches. Our demonstration refactors the common CPS architectural approach to...
