EA Forum Podcast (Curated & popular)
“Max Chiswick (1985–2025)” by Gavin
Poker pro, art collector, photographer, investor, AI researcher, chronic website creator, endless traveller, and omnipresent volunteer in nascent things. An independent and an invariant. I briefly worked with him on an accountability partner service. We had funding but he never invoiced me. Every time I called him he was somewhere else on Earth. Senegal, Israel, Nepal, Egypt. He spent 13 straight months travelling in 2017-8. He wasn't much of a writer - you won't find him on here - but he had started. Complex Systems with Patrick McKenzie (patio11)
AI, poker, and mind games, with Max Chiswick
Patrick McKenzie (patio11) is joined by Max Chiswick, a former professional poker player turned AI educator, to explore how poker intersects with decision making. They discuss how the online poker boom created unprecedented opportunities to study decision-making at scale and how computational advances have transformed both the game's theory and practice. They dig into how poker serves as a laboratory for studying decision-making under uncertainty, pattern recognition, and opponent modeling, while also examining the sometimes problematic incentives that emerge in both online gambling and AI development.–Full transcript available here: https://www.complexsystemspodcast.com/ai...

If you’ve heard the horror stories of experimental pre-20th-century psychiatry, this episode might surprise you. Josie Long heads to Chiswick House in south-west London to find out about its life as a private asylum for people with mental illnesses in the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Who were the people who needed the asylum’s care, and what insight does its story give us into attitudes to mental health not much more than a century ago? Dr Jeremy Ashbee tells Josie about the Tuke family of psychiatrists and their humane methods, and Rosi...

The Crackling - a food podcast.
Matt Moran (Aria, Chiswick, Moran Family Farm) - Paddock to plate
The paddock to plate ethos seems almost commonplace these days, but there are some that fostered a greater connection to those that produce our food and those that cook it long before it was widespread. Matt Moran (Aria, Chiswick, Moran Family Farm) is one of Australia's most influential chefs and restaurateurs, and a firm believer in the ethos, but he is also a fourth generation farmer - who over the years has developed an even greater connection with the land - and now he's even farming pigs. https://mattmoran.com.au Follow The Crackling https://www.instagram.com/thecracklingpodcast/ Follow...

#9 Carmel Chiswick on the Economics of Being Jewish in America
Prof. Carmel Chiswick (George Washington University) is a scholar's scholar. Dr. Chiswick is an economist to be reckoned with when it comes to what we usually think about when we talk economics (e.g., labor policy), but she also has the intellectual breadth to be able to address topics outside of the narrow confines of academically-defined fields. Add to this that Carmel has an incredible ability to teach people through stories, and often overlooked skill in our academic profession.
