Revelation 19:11-21 Christ on the White Horse (May 25, 2025 PM, Rev. Michael Grasso)
In Revelation 19:11-21 we see a picture of the last day. What will happen? Though many parts of the book of Revelation are difficult to interpret, the basic message here is clear: Christ will return and defeat His enemies. Every enemy will be defeated. What should you do then? Endure suffering faithfully if a Christian. Turn to Christ if you are not.

Acts 2:14-41 Christ, King Raised from the Dead (April 20, 2025 PM, Rev. Michael Grasso)
In Acts 2:14-41, in the first Apostolic sermon on the day of Pentecost, Peter proclaims the glory of Christ's Kingdom in connection with His resurrection from the dead. Through union with Christ, every believer triumphs with Christ, being seated with Him in the heavenly places, overcoming their sins in this life, and reigning with Christ in the world to come having overcome death itself in victory. Such is the hope of the gospel, and such is Christ's victory as King in His resurrection from the dead.

Matthew 27:27-54 Christ, King on the Cross (April 20, 2025 AM, Rev. Michael Grasso)
In Matthew 27:27-54 Christ is put to death. Everything in the narrative is ironic as Christ is mocked and humiliated for being the "King of the Jews." In reality, however, all that happens to Him, even in His death, proves His Kingship. Christ is the King who reigns from the cross.

Brothers and Sisters in Christ
Today, we take a look at an often-overlooked passage in the book of Romans—Chapter 16 which contain a long list of greetings that the Apostle Paul sends to his fellow believers in Rome. At first glance, this chapter might seem like a mere formality, a collection of names we can scarcely pronounce, with little relevance to our lives today. But as we dig deeper, we discover that this passage offers us profound insights into the beauty of Christian community, the diversity of God’s people, and the call to love, serve, and rightly regard one another as members of Chri...

Matthew 1:18-25 Christ Born to Die (December 24, 2024 PM, Rev. Michael Grasso)
If Christ really is fully God and fully man, if this glorious incarnation has truly happened, what is its purpose? Why did God actually become man? We are told the answer in the record of his birth in Matthew 1:18-25. He came to save his people from their sins. This he did by dying. The Son of God became man, so that he might die.

John 1:14-18 Christ Born Prophet (December 22, 2024 PM, Rev. Michael Grasso)
If the birth of Christ really is the Word becoming flesh, then he is, in himself, the greatest revelation of the Father. He is the exegesis of the Father in his very person. He is the one who came down from heaven to testify of the things that are in heaven. He is the one of whom it can be said, "If you have seen him, you have seen the Father." Such are the prophetic implications of the incarnation, and the glory of the one who is fully God and fully man.

As the one who is fully God and fully man, he is perfectly fitted to be the priest who reconciles man to God. Luke 1:26-38 Christ Born King (December 15, 2024 PM, Rev. Michael Grasso)
If Christ is fully God and fully man, what does that tell us about who he was born to be? When the angel Gabriel announces the birth of Christ to Mary, he tells her that he will be great, and that he will be given the throne of his father David, and that there will be no end to his kingdom. Christ being fully God and fully man, the eternal Son of God who took on human flesh, means he was born to have a kingdom that will never end.

Romans 8:12-17 | Heirs with Christ
The doctrine of adoption is, to our great detriment, an often a neglected doctrine. If Iasked you, “What is the first thought that comes to mind when I say the word, ‘Christian', how many of you would say, ‘Child of God’?" Last week we noted that the definition of a Christian is a person who has been filled with the Spirit of Christ. This morning we see that that Spirit is a Spirit of adoption. To be a Christian is to be a beloved child of the Heavenly Father. And it’s critical that we understand this.

Christ’s death shows forth the righteousness of God. The cross does not only reveal these things about God but is the perfect revelation of God. Galatians 2:17-2:21 | Crucified with Christ
The cross of Christ stands as the greatest display love in all the world in all the ages of time and eternity. “Greater love has no man than this, that he lays down his life for his friends.” Every person who trusts in Jesus can have these certain assurances. This is what Jesus has done for you. He gave himself for you. He gave himself to rescue you from the penalty of the law. He gave himself to purchase you for himself. He gave himself so that He could dwell within you. He gave himself so that you could etern...

Hebrews 2:5-9 All Things in Subjugation to Christ (February 13, 2022 PM, Rev. Michael Grasso)
In Hebrews 2:5-9 the author to the Hebrews shows that all things have been put in subjection to Christ, the Son of God, who became man for our salvation. This is true even if it looks like the world is far too strong for the church. Christ has become man for our sakes and, though he is made a little lower than the angels in his manhood, yet all things have been subjected to him by his death and resurrection.

Hebrews 1:5-14 Christ Superior to the Angels (January 30, 2022 PM, Rev. Michael Grasso)
In Hebrews 1:5-14 the author of Hebrews quotes from a number of Old Testament passages to show that Christ is superior to the angels in every way. He is superior because he is the Son of God. He is superior because he is God by nature, not a ministering spirit like the angels. He is superior because he is the king, not a servant. The Arians of the 4th century and the Jehovah’s Witnesses today claim that Jesus is merely the highest of all angels, but Hebrews 1 could not be clearer: Christ is superior to all angels.

Matthew 9:32-34 Christ's Authority to Give Speech to the Mute (January 09, 2022 AM, Rev. Michael Grasso)
In Matthew 9:32-34 Christ gives speech to a mute demoniac. This again shows Christ’s authority over all of creation as the eternal Son of God. Matthew here, however, begins to highlight a new theme that will be developed in the coming chapters: how people respond to Christ. That Christ has done something amazing and is doing amazing things today cannot be denied.

Matthew 9:27-31 Christ's Authority to Give Sight to the Blind (January 02, 2022, AM, Rev. Michael Grasso)
In Matthew 9:27-31 Christ gives sight to two blind men. This healing is done in private for these two who believe in him. Christ's giving sight to the blind shows that he is God, who alone has such power, and that he is bringing in the last age. His ability to give sight to the blind shows that he is able to grant faith sovereignly to whomever he wills. The blind men can see with the eyes of faith, but the crowds are not given the privilege of knowing Christ, they are blind.

Luke 2:1-7 The Birth of Christ (December 26, 2021 PM, Rev. Michael Grasso)
In Luke 2:1-7 Luke records the birth of Christ. Luke situates this birth in its historical context. It was in the days of Caesar Augustus during a census that was overseen by Quirinius, while Herod ruled over Judea. The Christian faith is not only about believing correct doctrines. It also demands faith in the historicity of the events that undergird those doctrines. Without Christ actually coming in the flesh, there could be no salvation.

Matthew 1:18-25 Christ Came to Save His People (December 24, 2021 PM, Rev. Michael Grasso)
Christ's two names in Matthew 1:18-25 tell us who he is and what he has come to do. As "Immanuel" he is God with us. As "Jesus" he comes to save his people from their sins. The only way to make sense of the incarnation is to seek to understand it in light of the mission of Christ. Anything less than the salvation of his people from sin makes the incarnation incomprehensible.

Matthew 9:9-13 Christ Came to Call Sinners (December 05, 2021 AM, Rev. Michael Grasso)
In Matthew 9:9-13 Christ calls Matthew who, seeing that his sins can be forgiven by following Christ, immediately leaves his life of tax collecting to follow Jesus. The Pharisees, believing themselves to be righteous, have not concept of the forgiveness of sins. Christ shows that he has come for people like Matthew, who recognize their sins, rather than for people like the Pharisees who believed themselves to be righteous.

Matthew 8:28-34 Christ's Authority over Demons (November 21, 2021 AM, Rev. Michael Grasso)
In Matthew 8:28-34 Christ shows his sovereign authority over demons. Though the two demon possessed men in the account terrified others, the demons controlling them are terrified of Jesus. After being sent out into pigs which run down a high and die, the townspeople are left with a choice: do they rejoice over those who were delivered from the power of demons and believe in Christ who has such power, or do they concern themselves more with the financial loss of pigs. The same question faces all today.

Matthew 8:23-27 Christ's Authority over the Wind and the Waves (November 14, 2021 AM, Rev. Michael Grasso)
In Matthew 8:23-27 Jesus calms the winds and waves showing that he is the sovereign Lord of the universe. If this is the case, then those who believe in him should not fear, for Christ has shown both that he is mighty and that he is for his people. This means that no matter what difficulty we face Christ will see us through until he returns and restores all things. Do not fear, rather believe.

Matthew 8:5-13 Christ's Authority to Heal with a Word (October 24, 2021 AM, Rev. Michael Grasso)
In Matthew 8:5-13, Matthew records Christ’s second miracle in chapters 8-9. Here Christ heals a Centurion’s servant. Amazingly, this Centurion, a Gentile, understands that Christ has sovereign authority even over diseases and disabilities. He believes that Christ is able to heal by simply speaking a word. Though he thought himself unworthy to have Christ in his home, Jesus assures him that he and those who have such faith will yet feast with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in heaven. His faith is a model for us. True faith recognizes Christ’s sovereign authority.

Here, a leper approaches Christ believing that Jesus is fully God and able to heal him. Ephesians 2:1-10, Made Alive with Christ (Rev. Michael Grasso)
How is Christ’s resurrection related to your salvation? In Ephesians 2:1-10 Paul explains that you are dead in your sins but God made you alive together with Christ. Salvation is resurrection and not just any resurrection but it is union with Christ such that His resurrection becomes yours. For the believer the spiritual life you have is the life of the resurrected life of Christ. “He is not here, for he has risen, as he said.” - Matthew 28:6
