動物嘅存在都係人生活裏面不可或缺的一環，佢地有時係我地嘅朋友，有時係一種威脅，但更多時候係過身之後喺餐枱上面先至同我地碰面。而亦因此我地對住動物嘅態度都係多變的：養寵物嘅你，可能對貓狗 vs 豬牛羊有住截然不同嘅態度；而一個素食者亦都可能對各種昆蟲的生與死視若無睹...
既然動物必然會喺我地身邊存在，我地究竟可唔可以將佢地當做社會一員黎看待？而大家呢幾年睇左咁多有關政治哲學嘅理論對於思考呢個問題又會唔會有幫助呢？

讀書會選讀 [Darkness at Noon 《正午的黑暗》]
原來在歐威爾寫《1984》之前，阿瑟．柯斯勒 (Arthur Koestler) 已經發表經典小說《正午的黑暗》（又譯《中午的黑暗》），描寫由某位黨國領導人’Number One‘獨裁統治的反烏托邦。
此小說在戰後成為了暢銷書，甚至影響了不少歐洲人對蘇共的看法，歐威爾稱之為「精彩的文學作品」，更深受啟發，後來寫下《動物農莊》與《1984》，而‘Big Brother’的「元祖老大哥」，就是來自《正午的黑暗》。
