The meat rack is a forested and beach area between the two towns of fire island Cherry Grove and the Pines. It's a big cruising area and the only way to travel between the two towns at night.

This event was hosted by the environmental groups the dirty nine and the Sludge Hub. And last weekend was their first annual garlic Mustard festival.
Garlic Mustard is an invasive species that can be very harmful to native plants. It also happens to be safe to eat, delicious and highly forageable. So the festival revolved around a cook off using different garlic Mustard recipes from plants we personally foraged and picked.

This track is very tribal and I wanted to make a themed mix that really evoked a journey through the jungle. Certain songs are quiet trips in a canoe down a river, others are an adrenaline rush as you hunt down your prey, and yet others are the adrenaline rush of realizing a predator is stalking you as well. DJShamanLoveFallThis set is very much a classic house set. It feels decidedly old school and yet uses a lot of new tunes. It somehow feels both pop sensible and pretty far out there. I love it.
It's that time of year again. The weather is getting colder and the leaves are changing. Halloween is around the corner and it's time for ghost stories, pumpkins and warm apple cider. I think this set fits the time of year perfectly.

DJShamanLoveAwakenedI used no effects, loops or filters, and opted to instead work on the basics of track selection, track order, energy, taking you on a journey and telling a complete story. All the studio wizardry in the world wont save a DJ that can't do those essentials.
My skills are improving with each mix. It's only been three months and I can feel that the awakening is at hand.

In this mix I have a variety of styles, bpms, and tempos. I practice raising the energy, dropping it and raising it back up. I try to mix songs with kickass beats with songs of meaningful lyrics and try to create a balance between the various styles and tempos to create an enjoyable listening experience. I really wanted to increase the energy on this track to almost punk rock level of drum fury and think that I succeeded in that. Mixing them blind was fun and the result was pretty decent so I decided to upload this mix. This is how I learn my tracks by mixing songs I find then listening to the resulting mix.
