為了讓小猴子們得到第一名，每位猴子媽媽都會帶著小猴子去森林裡練習，訓練小猴子們用最快的速度摘到最多的水果。
可是猴子慢慢不管練習多久，他的籃子總是只有一兩顆水果，
怎麼辦呢? 猴子慢慢到底可不可以完成比賽並獲得第一名呢?

很多小孩都有分心的狀況，像是寫功課時不知道為什麼寫那麼慢，明明作業很簡單，但是拖拖拉拉的。
仔細一看才發現孩子好容易分心，會摸東摸西，或是很容易受旁邊的聲音吸引，導致花過多多餘的時間在做同一件事情上。
也因為這樣，大人常常會因為受不了孩子這樣拖拖拉拉的行為，而對孩子發脾氣或跟孩子硬碰硬。
為了訓練孩子能專注在自己既有的作業上，大人可以試試利用下面的方法來引導孩子：
1. 事前準備: 在孩子需專心寫功課前，協助孩子進行事前，家長可以將桌椅對空白的牆，避免分心。此外也需協助移除環境周邊干擾物品，包含:人、事、物，任何容易分心的東西都要避免孩子接觸。連太漂亮的筆，都容易讓孩子分心，所以要收到孩子看不見的地方。
2.事前預告：在做事情之前，先告訴孩子等等他應該要做的事情，並且告訴她們做事情的當下希望他可以專心，並且預告孩子等等順利完成事情後可以得到的後果或是獎勵(例如:寫完就可以去公園玩、寫完就可以集一個點數)
３. 過程中觀察及提醒：在孩子做事情的時候，要請大人在一旁細心觀察，當大人發現孩子分心了請以口頭提醒，或是以肢體動作提醒你觀察到孩子分心的歷程。但要記得，請避免責備性的口吻。例如可以說:「你剛剛有注意到自己分心了嗎? 剛剛你在發呆了，要記得專心寫喔！」
４. 事後討論及鼓勵：孩子有嘗試專心，過程中有努力做事情，都可以口頭回饋及稱讚。例如 : 「你剛剛有分心一下下，但很快的又繼續寫了，比以前進步，現在能很快完成功課了，真棒!」最後在完成事項時也不忘給予實質性的獎勵，例如：讓孩子去挑選一個喜歡的零食或是給孩子一個大大的擁抱。
此外，家長在生活中也可以運用簡單圖片，或是小短片讓孩子練習專心。
利用簡單的畫面或是圖片做提問，讓孩子找出物品在哪裡?或是找出物品有幾個?透過這個過程孩子可以體驗到專心的實際歷程。在孩子有嘗試回答、努力專心時家長千萬要大力稱讚唷。
透過在生活中不斷的練習，孩子漸漸能變得專心，也漸能培養出自我監控的能力。
