The main thyroid markers are TSH, the pituitary hormone-stimulating gland, and T4 and T3, which are produced by the thyroid gland. Thyroid hormones are bound to proteins called thyroid hormone-binding globulins. Those are total T4 and total T3. T4 is converted to T3, which also makes reverse T3.
