前些日子，朋友送给我一套茶杯作为生日礼物，茶杯上印着的山茶花图案，造型相当优雅。说到这… 对了，你知道普鲁斯特（Marcel Proust）和山茶花也有一段故事吗？
话说，有一个晚上，普鲁斯特参加了一个巴黎高级聚会。当时法国上流社会的男士们，每当出席正式场合时普遍会在燕尾服或西装上戴上白色的康乃馨，可是以穿着打扮时尚著称的普鲁斯特却不按牌理出牌，故意戴了一朵白色的山茶花，令当时在场的人士啧啧称奇。

这个“意外举动”传遍了巴黎的上流社会，但是一位穿着中性、不受世俗束缚的女设计师爱上了这朵几乎呈现完美圆形的花。她发现，乳白的花朵在黑色衣服或是深色头发的衬托下，看起来特别的优雅神秘。她开始把山茶花别在帽缘、口袋、腰线、衣领。
1922年开始，山茶花的刺绣图案出现在她设计的衬衫和鞋子，山茶花的浮雕也出现在金纽扣和首饰上。她甚至委托纺织制造商设计山茶花图案的面料，还有以不同材料像是丝绸，天鹅绒，雪纺纱和皮革制成的山茶花。
你听过“视觉传达”这个名词吗？它是90年代才出现的设计专业学科，目的是在研究如何通过视觉来传播特定事物的主动行为。我在纽约念研究所时，主修的就是“视觉传达”，所以我特别佩服这位设计师，早在20年代，她就已经在实践视觉识别（Visual Identity）的概念了：所以，当你在自然界或者花园看到山茶花，就会很自然地联想到一个全世界女生都爱的品牌......

现代时尚的女性精神
下次打开你的衣柜时好好注意一下，你会发现香奈儿的设计精神无所不在，躲也躲不掉——或多或少，你一定拥有简洁流畅的剪裁和不刻意展现曲线的洋装；你会有加上男装元素的女装，这些设计元素包括：西装外套，开襟毛衣，斜纹软呢料，长裤，横纹水手服等等；你的外套除了绵、麻料之外，可能也有垂坠感的jersey针织面料……
还有，很少女生没有黑色连衣裙吧？1926年，香奈儿设计的小黑裙（the little black dress）成为最新的“现代女性的制服”，让现在全世界女生穿的黑色连衣裙都是它的子子孙孙！这是一种优雅、低调、极简、无拘无束的设计创意，解放了女性的身体—— 你知道吗，在她之前的年代，除非是仆人或者是在服丧期，否则几乎没有女生穿着黑色。女生的身体和灵魂，可是套在紧身胸衣和看起来笨拙得像条船的裙撑里的！
香奈儿的设计，强调服装的舒适性与休闲感，开创了前所未有的“boy look”或是“garçon”的男装风格。接下来的100年的时间，只要我们认为“时尚”的衣服，大部分都跟可可·香奈儿有关；只要我们想买但买不起的配件，也和她有关。

对于香奈儿带领起来的时尚风潮，她的劲敌设计师保罗·波烈（Paul Poiret）感觉不是太有滋味，他形容香奈儿创造的时尚，无非就是那种“表面奢侈但是内在贫困”的东西。更糟糕的是，她的衣服让所有女性都变成了“在办公室上班、看起来营养不良的打电报的小姐”—— wow，听起来有够酸，还带点人身攻击！因为现实生活里，香奈儿长的就是个头娇小、瘦削平胸。
还有一次，Poiret在公共场所里说：“我们应该保持警惕呀，小心那个假小子的脑袋。 她会给我们带来很大的震撼，从她的小帽帽里淘出礼服，短头发，毛衣，珠宝，还有精品店。” Oops，我补一句，Poiret忘了还有五号香水啦～
显然，Poiret没有意识到一个事实：香奈儿是女生，她为女生设计衣服，而且一辈子只穿自己设计的衣服。按照消费心理学来说，活广告的营销策略的确有它的说服力，所以香奈儿可以理直气壮地说：“Je ne fais pas la mode. Je suis la mode.”（我不追求时尚，我就是时尚。） 但是看看Poiret，噢，伤脑筋，他真的也只能“追求时尚”了。

从哪里学创意——跟艺术家偷师
哪一位设计师不是创意收集机？我学创意、做创意、呼吸创意、吃饭创意、静坐创意，最糟糕的是连睡觉做噩梦也想着创意！所以，只要能逮到机会，我一定会跟我欣赏的艺术家们问一个问题：Where do you get your ideas? （你哪来的创意点子呢？）
所以... 哎，如果能够搭乘时光机器回到过去，那该有多好！这样我就能在巴黎的丽兹酒店和香奈儿见面，和她喝个下午茶，然后直接问个明白：什么是创意？
不过话说回来，个性也很直接的香奈儿女士可能会翻个白眼这么回答我：“Je suis la créativité, ma chèrie.” (我就是创意，亲爱的。)

通常，这种封闭式的回答会浇灭我的好奇心，让我打退堂鼓。不过，我从音乐人大卫·鲍伊（David Bowie）那边得到一个明确的答案，他说：“我只学习有料可偷的艺术。”（The only art I’ll ever study is stuff that I can steal from.）

你有没有注意到，有些人，包括我自己，当我们想到一个伟大的想法，一个自认为可以拯救生命的想法时，有可能会立即将它变成宝贝，像电影《指环王》里的咕噜一样紧紧抱着指环，还一边喃喃自语说：“oh，my precious~” 生怕这个宝贝离手，谁知道我们何时可以再拥有一个呢？
也就是这样的心态，所以我们养精蓄锐、不着急，等到总有一天，等到生肖、八字、星座都对盘，等到天时、地利、人和，然后再奋力一搏。我记得念书时，我的教授也这么说：“The creativity process is a long journey.”（创意过程是一个冗长的旅程。）
但是，香奈儿可没时间唧唧歪歪，她没什么好怕的。就举Jersey的例子来说吧——
1913年，一战结束前，香奈儿想要重新建立一个现代女性的衣橱，而且是“现在”就要行动，因为“现在就要”的行动，所以只能从眼前可以找到的东西去做，因为她有经济上的考量。然后，她发现了Jersey，这种用来制作男士内衣和水手衫的面料最便宜。

前些日子，朋友送给我一套茶杯作为生日礼物，茶杯上印着的山茶花图案，造型相当优雅。说到这… 对了，你知道普鲁斯特（Marcel Proust）和山茶花也有一段故事吗？
话说，有一个晚上，普鲁斯特参加了一个巴黎高级聚会。当时法国上流社会的男士们，每当出席正式场合时普遍会在燕尾服或西装上戴上白色的康乃馨，可是以穿着打扮时尚著称的普鲁斯特却不按牌理出牌，故意戴了一朵白色的山茶花，令当时在场的人士啧啧称奇。

这个"意外举动"传遍了巴黎的上流社会，但是一位穿着中性、不受世俗束缚的女设计师爱上了这朵几乎呈现完美圆形的花。她发现，乳白的花朵在黑色衣服或是深色头发的衬托下，看起来特别的优雅神秘。她开始把山茶花别在帽缘、口袋、腰线、衣领。
1922年开始，山茶花的刺绣图案出现在她设计的衬衫和鞋子，山茶花的浮雕也出现在金纽扣和首饰上。她甚至委托纺织制造商设计山茶花图案的面料，还有以不同材料像是丝绸，天鹅绒，雪纺纱和皮革制成的山茶花。
你听过"视觉传达"这个名词吗？它是90年代才出现的设计专业学科，目的是在研究如何通过视觉来传播特定事物的主动行为。我在纽约念研究所时，主修的就是"视觉传达"，所以我特别佩服这位设计师，早在20年代，她就已经在实践视觉识别（Visual Identity）的概念了：所以，当你在自然界或者花园看到山茶花，就会很自然地联想到一个全世界女生都爱的品牌......

下次打开你的衣柜时好好注意一下，你会发现香奈儿的设计精神无所不在，躲也躲不掉——或多或少，你一定拥有简洁流畅的剪裁和不刻意展现曲线的洋装；你会有加上男装元素的女装，这些设计元素包括：西装外套，开襟毛衣，斜纹软呢料，长裤，横纹水手服等等；你的外套除了绵、麻料之外，可能也有垂坠感的jersey针织面料……
还有，很少女生没有黑色连衣裙吧？1926年，香奈儿设计的小黑裙（the little black dress）成为最新的"现代女性的制服"，让现在全世界女生穿的黑色连衣裙都是它的子子孙孙！这是一种优雅、低调、极简、无拘无束的设计创意，解放了女性的身体—— 你知道吗，在她之前的年代，除非是仆人或者是在服丧期，否则几乎没有女生穿着黑色。女生的身体和灵魂，可是套在紧身胸衣和看起来笨拙得像条船的裙撑里的！
香奈儿的设计，强调服装的舒适性与休闲感，开创了前所未有的"boy look"或是"garçon"的男装风格。接下来的100年的时间，只要我们认为"时尚"的衣服，大部分都跟可可·香奈儿有关；只要我们想买但买不起的配件，也和她有关。

对于香奈儿带领起来的时尚风潮，她的劲敌设计师保罗·波烈（Paul Poiret）感觉不是太有滋味，他形容香奈儿创造的时尚，无非就是那种"表面奢侈但是内在贫困"的东西。更糟糕的是，她的衣服让所有女性都变成了"在办公室上班、看起来营养不良的打电报的小姐"—— wow，听起来有够酸，还带点人身攻击！因为现实生活里，香奈儿长的就是个头娇小、瘦削平胸。
还有一次，Poiret在公共场所里说："我们应该保持警惕呀，小心那个假小子的脑袋。 她会给我们带来很大的震撼，从她的小帽帽里淘出礼服，短头发，毛衣，珠宝，还有精品店。" Oops，我补一句，Poiret忘了还有五号香水啦～
显然，Poiret没有意识到一个事实：香奈儿是女生，她为女生设计衣服，而且一辈子只穿自己设计的衣服。按照消费心理学来说，活广告的营销策略的确有它的说服力，所以香奈儿可以理直气壮地说："Je ne fais pas la mode. Je suis la mode."（我不追求时尚，我就是时尚。） 但是看看Poiret，噢，伤脑筋，他真的也只能"追求时尚"了。

哪一位设计师不是创意收集机？我学创意、做创意、呼吸创意、吃饭创意、静坐创意，最糟糕的是连睡觉做噩梦也想着创意！所以，只要能逮到机会，我一定会跟我欣赏的艺术家们问一个问题：Where do you get your ideas? （你哪来的创意点子呢？）
所以... 哎，如果能够搭乘时光机器回到过去，那该有多好！这样我就能在巴黎的丽兹酒店和香奈儿见面，和她喝个下午茶，然后直接问个明白：什么是创意？
不过话说回来，个性也很直接的香奈儿女士可能会翻个白眼这么回答我："Je suis la créativité, ma chèrie." (我就是创意，亲爱的。)
