慢性疾病是指那些无法治愈，但病程可控的疾病类型。包括许多心脑血管疾病、糖尿病、AIDS、精神疾病等，其中有些患者甚至需要终身依赖药物维持基本的身体机能，才能过上在很多人看来理所应当的“正常生活”；而在此次疫情中，处处封锁的交通导致了某些慢性病患者取药难的困境。在疫情爆发的中心，一些带有慢性疾病的人群也被视为感染病毒“高危群体”，他们的心情更加焦灼、在日常生活以及医疗护理中也更加小心翼翼。疫情之下，药物短缺和感染风险问题让这一群体的生存之艰暴露于公众视野之下。在日常生活中，我们也许看不到他们的病痛，一旦日常的情境被打破，当你知道了他们的存在，你会怎么做？其实，设身处地地去理解他们，做起来并不很难。
对慢性病患的个体和家庭而言，慢性疾病如何改变他们的生活？对社会而言，对慢性病的错误认知带来的不公正的歧视、隔离，如何加剧了慢性病患者的生存危机？我们如何看待慢性疾病带来的影响？我们一生如此漫长，在人生的某个时刻，免不了会经历与疾病搏斗的痛苦；我们之中的许多人、家庭，也会有受到慢性疾病影响的可能。
