खाली था, पर कुछ बात थी उसमे
सच कहु, मन से उठाया नहीं था उसे
जैसे किसीने उठवाया हो उसे मुझसे
अब वो मेरे सामने था
आर पार, साफ़ सुतरा
घंटों, लगातार मैंने उसको घूरा
न रखनेवाले का पता
डब्बे पर भी न मिला कोई अता पता
अचानक से एक बात सूझी
क्यों न उसे तमन्नाओं का पिटारा बना दू
डब्बा खोलना चुनौती का काम था
अभी तक अनचाहा था
अब मुझ पर हावी था
एक बड़ा छेद बनाया उसमे
एक के बाद एक तमन्ना डालता गया
रात गई, आधी रात भी गई
मैं कुछ होने की प्रतीक्षा करता रहा
कोई चमत्कार, कोई अच्छी खबर
सुबह हुई तो डब्बा टूट गया था
टुकड़े समेट कर फेंक दिया
तमन्नाओं के पर्चे बिखरे पड़े थे
डब्बे से दूर ही रहना था
न उसे अंदर लाताम, न वो टूटता
