The oxygen variation during the diving is similar to the effect of intermittent hypoxia which can activate mitochondria, improve metabolism, promote angiogenesis, and increase the stem cells. Joseph Dituri who stayed underwater for 100 days was found to improve inflammatory factors and lower his cholesterol level. His stem cells was ten-folds higher and his telomeres was 20% longer than before.
