Jeder Zehnte erkrankt im Laufe seines Lebens an einer Depression. Die Krankheit schränkt massiv den Alltag ein und nimmt Einfluss auf sämtliche Lebensbereiche. Dabei kann ein Großteil der Betroffenen die Symptome anfangs nicht einordnen und so in einen Abwärtsstrudel geraten. Umso wichtiger ist es, dass die psychische Störung rasch erkannt wird. Ein Problem ist allerdings auch, dass Depressionen schnell zur Stigmatisierung führen können und Betroffene deshalb meist nicht oder erst sehr spät den Arzt aufsuchen.
