배우 최우식의 본명은 Edward Choi 입니다.한국에서 태어나서 11살때 캐나다로 이주하여 2010년에 한국에 돌아왔습니다.
국적.
명확하게 최우식은 캐나다인 입니다.한국 국적을 포기하고 캐나다 국적을 선택했기 때문에 완벽한 캐나다인 이라고 보시면 됩니다.한국 국적을 포기하면서 군대를 가지 않았기 때문에 논란이 있었으나 한국 군대 꼬라지를 보면 저라도 안갔을 겁니다.

은밀하게 위대하게 누구로 나왔지? 하는분들 있을건데 ~ 맨날 김수현 뒤통수 때리던 고딩 역활로 나왔답니다.
연기력 논란.
이후 2016년 개봉한 좀비 블록버스터 부산행에 준주연인 야구부 소년 영국으로 출연했는데, 안소희와 커플로 출연했다.영화는 크게 흥행했지만 최우식은 이 영화에서 처음으로 연기력 논란에 휩싸였다.안소희만큼은 아니었지만 타 배우들에 비해 좀 과해보였던 것은 사실.단! 영국이 운동하는 소년이었고, 아직 학생인만큼 일부러 조금 과하게 설정한 것도 있었을 것이다.
기존 영화들에서 연기력 논란이 크게 없었던 것으로 보아 캐릭터 자체가 어색한게 아니였나 싶다.귀엽게 생겼는데 좀 어색할수도 있지. 별꼴이야 정말!

최우식은 데뷔 10년차 배우라고 하기엔 필모그래피가 굉장하다고 볼수 있다.

영화 기생충에서 군필 4수생을 연기한 탓에 어느 정도 논란이 있었다.
같은 한국계 외국인인 "데니 안" 처럼 자신이 입방정으로 긁어 부스럼을 만들지는 않았지만,평범한 군필 백수 대한민국 남성 배역을 맡은 것에서 논란은 피할수 없었다.
더군다나 한국 국적을 포기해 군대를 가지 않은 상황이라 호사가들 사이에 논란이 어느정도 있었다.
절친.
박서준과 박형식과 절친인 것으로 알려져 있으며 인스타나 기타 SNS로 소통하며 장난치는 모습이 자주 보인다. 박서준은 기생충에 우정출연 하기도 했다. ~~ 인맥 부럽네..

한국과 캐나다를 반반 살아서그런지 말하는것이 조금 어눌하고, 행동들이 약간 백치미 있게 느껴질때가 있다.청룡영화제에서 수상소감후, 마이크에 머리를 부딪히거나 하는 행동들도 백치미로 느껴진다.하지만 정작 팬들은 이런 모습을 더욱 사랑스럽게 생각한다.
