Everything I Hate About Me
Beware the Ides of March!
My first memorable experience with Shakespeare was when I was 12. I couldn't have imagined how impactful it would be. I was an average, dumb kid. I was not a great reader nor was I interested very much in discussions of philosophy or high ideas. I had to grow into my interest in such things. A few years later, Shakespeare's play, Julius Caesar, would stoke the fires of my interest in great ideas well spoken.

Everything I Hate About Me
A Metaphysical Crisis of Morality and Ethics
Looking at ancient cultures and stories in the Bible through a lens of historical, cultural, ethical, moral, scientific, and archeological reality rather than superstition and tradition can offend many believers. I am here to offend while questioning the nature of reality itself. Meanwhile, a bird sings outside my studio window.

Everything I Hate About Me
Paradigm Shifts and the Order of Creation
Humanity has always been very concerned about paradigm shifts. We do not take lightly the changing of our minds. Our most ancient myths and legends and religions attempt to help us understand change and how things came to be and how we can adapt to such changes. As we continue to grow in our own personal journeys in life are we ready and able to accept paradigm shifts?

Everything I Hate About Me
I Used to Believe in Conversion Therapy Without Even Knowing What it Was
I made this episode as a sort of apology to my younger brother and to my parents for attitudes I had for a brief spell as a teenager. I thought there was something wrong with being gay, an attitude that was surely taught to me, but that I must take complete responsibility for. 30 years later my understanding of masculinity, sexuality, gender, etc., are completely different as I continue to rid myself of (if you've been following along then you guessed it) binary thought.

I Too Often Think in Binaries
Putting a bow on our four episode discussion of wisdom, today we examine The Book of Job, but, more specifically, the nature of infinite things and beings. In a world seemingly built on binary ideologies, defining our existence on the basis of Good and Evil, can we break free of such dogmatic thought patterns and imagine infinite possibilities?

Everything I Hate About Me
Shakespeare, Wisdom, and Broccoli
In these revised excerpts of a book I started writing but have since thrown in the trash, we continue discussing wisdom, specifically, our search for wisdom. My search has been quite often via great wisdom literature of all kinds and from all parts of the world.

Everything I Hate About Me
Treasure Island, Courage, and Kissing
We often speak of the courage to do what is right and to never give up or give in, but what of the courage to do the wrong thing or to surrender? Is there wisdom to be found in choosing the wrong? In this episode are some of my hot takes on classic literature, Christianity, and kissing.

Impressionism, Wisdom, and Fatherhood
It's a new month so we tackle a new general subject. This month: Wisdom. In this episode we are finding connections between musical Impressionism and Wisdom while contemplating fatherhood. The agony of the human condition is to make choices within chaos...and it's all chaos. My piano playing has never been worse, but underneath the word from our sponsor, Blonde Hair Dye, you can hear my new single, "No Cap, Boyfriends are Lame."

Everything I Hate About Me
Constantly Inconstant
What is so precious about the ways in which we self-identify? Perhaps nothing. Perhaps none of us are so special that we couldn't change who we are.
