And, for me at least, it allows us to see why the household codes were revolutionary in a completely different way than we would expect in today's culture. Of course there's nothing wrong with admiring people we love and look up to. Mentors are good and Biblical. However, when we think mere humans are perfect or see the flaws in people we hero-worship, we certainly run into trouble. And sometimes we don't see the flaws, including racism, and that leads to poisonous results as well.
