Sasha Lee Hagues-Seals from Legacy Foundation Japan and giving back.
Today we had the pleasure of catching Sasha with a few spare minutes in her busy day of looking after everyone and talked about her work at Legacy Foundation Japan and how important it is to be grateful about where you are but even if someone takes one day to give back, that can make all the difference in the world for someone else. Whether in her own family or the work with the Legacy Foundation, it is a place for people to feel at home and comfortable asking and receiving help. Instilling that sense of belonging...

Dr.Lois Holzman and Dr.Makiko Kishi on “How to help people ask for help and help themselves.”
Today we were so fortunate to have Dr.Lois Holzman who founded the East Side Institute in New York and Dr.Makiko Kishi of Meiji University join us to talk about how to help people ask for help and help themselves. Approaching problems with their toolkit. Not trying to solve problems for the population we work with but rather letting them be part of the solution. For some problems (issues in life) we need to make new tools and not only try to use tools we already have. Going against the grain and realizing you get better at doing things w...

Interview with teacher Ruth Ingulsrud of JOEE NPO
We were very happy to catch up with Ruth Ingulsrud who collaborates with us in the homes. We always wondered why the younger children at St.Francis were so conversant compared to the older kids we had in our computer classes. Our routine at St.Francis has always been to say hello to the 4-6-year-olds while they are eating dinner and asking them questions and listening to them. When we would leave they would say "See you next time!" Generally, 6 pm-7 pm is dinner, 7 pm-8 pm is playtime and the bed for them. We then discovered...

Hidden Assets
The 30,000 children living in the orphanages of Japan are the future. They are not the "throw away children" but the "Hidden Assets". Children born today will live on average to 107 in Japan, well into the 22nd century. Therefore taking the time to mentor and help a child today will last a lifetime.

Our First YouMeWe NPO Podcast
One of our 19 year old Ambassadors set this up for us and we want to use this channel to convey messages about the work we are doing in the homes. We look forward to interviewing our sponsors, fundraisers, volunteers, staff and ambassador (adult children aged out of the home) And much more. Thank you for listening. Apologies for the children voices in the background, a closed door with me speaker is very tempting for them to open and walk in.
