Good Morning Cape Town with Lester Kiewit
Does freedom of expression mean we can use vulgar language at the workplace?
The Johannesburg Labour Court recently upheld the dismissal of a mining operator who used vulgar language against someone at a safety meeting. Is there allowance for vulgar language in the South African workplace given that freedom of expression is a constitutional right enshrined in Section 16 of the Bill of Rights, as long as it isn’t hate speech, propaganda for war, or incitement to imminent violence? Lester Kiewit speaks to Michael Hatherell, senior legal advisor at Strata G labour solutions. Good Morning Cape Town with Lester Kiewit is a podcast of the CapeTalk breakfast show.

But is this how it should be and is this situation inevitable? Talented and professional interior designers are constantly completing challenging, world-class, complex projects all over the country!
