В России шиитов мало, но среди них жители древнего города Дербента и единственного шиитского лезгинского села Южного Дагестана, Мискинджа. Самый известный и яркий шиитский обычай — траурные церемонии в память о трагически погибшем внуке пророка Мухаммеда Хусейне. В России эти поминальные ритуалы тоже проводятся. Шииты Дербента и Мискинджи до сих пор устраивают торжественные и массовые траурные процессии, во время которых верующие вместе молятся и исполняют специальные оды о страдании мучеников — мерсия. Все эти традиции настолько необычны и малоизвестны среди большинства жителей России, что в этом выпуске мы решили поговорить о том, что вообще такое шиизм, как шиитские традиции формировались на территории нашей страны, о том, почему шиитов зачастую недолюбливают более многочисленные сунниты — представители другого направления ислама — и как проходят масштабные религиозные церемонии в азербайджанских кварталах Дербента. А также — о том, что чувствуют верующие шииты в Ашуру, десятый день религиозного траура, и почему они искренне горюют в день событий многовековой давности?
