On August 25, 2020, after the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Kyle Rittenhouse, shot and killed two men and wounded another during confrontations at two locations. He was armed with a Smith & Wesson M&P15 rifle. Rittenhouse, a then 17-year-old from Antioch, Illinois, said he was there to provide medical aid as he was carrying a medkit.
