长久以来，“结婚生子”被视为女性既定的生命轨迹，以此为基础的传统家庭模式，则被赋以“避风港”的神话，将女性的牺牲自然化，并将她们在婚姻、亲职关系中的劳动无偿化。
当下，婚姻和生育不再紧密铆合，家庭模式也因此日渐多样化，比如，不婚不育成立 “一人户”家庭，只结婚、不生育的丁克家庭，不结婚只抚育的单身妈妈及同性伴侣家庭。
我们非常好奇何种社会及文化语境孕育出这样的趋势，以及不同家庭模式对女性意味着什么。我们试着去分析有哪些个人及结构性因素造成了女性的婚育困境，这些因素又是如何刺激了新的家庭模式的生产。我们也尝试暂时抛开家庭内部无偿劳动、母职惩罚等主流批判性话语，讨论传统家庭模式对不同阶层的女性意味着什么、拒绝传统家庭模式是否必然带来女性赋权、同性伴侣有哪些育儿优势和负担，并反思研究者自身所属的阶层对女性主义知识生产的影响。
