This was a massive struggle due to, well, 2 years of pandemic fatigue and general lack of inspiration, energy, etc., and initially I threw this track out because I didn't think it worked - turns out it just needed a bit of force. Not 100% happy with the mix but I think it turned out pretty cool.

So this was a tough one to work on; I really wanted something era-appropriate for a DOS demo, and just finding what the right tone was, what the right sound was, and then what the right chord progressions were was so hard that it was probably the only time that the visuals caught up to the unfinished music.
In the end though, I'm 99% happy with it and it was nice to wiggle the tracking muscles a bit.2021-09-1203 min

Still one of my favorite pieces I've done; as usual a bunch of stories with this one too. I think I was very lucky in many ways when this came about: some people went as far as predicting that this would open a new career for me, but life just went on I suppose. (Not that I'm complaining.)

Since I thought it's a good name, I began to think about what kind of design would fit, and eventually narrowed it down to "grimy, dirty, sewer-style".

I originally wanted to make a faster, drum-and-bass-y version, but that just didn't work out - at one point I accidentally dropped the tempo to half and I liked the groove enough to finish it that way.
