On November 20, 1947, Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II) married Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten (later Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh) at Westminster Abbey in London, England. The royal wedding was a grand affair, with 2,000 guests in attendance and millions of people around the world tuning in to listen to the ceremony on the radio.Princess Elizabeth, who was 21 years old at the time, wore an ivory silk wedding gown designed by Norman Hartnell.
