In contrast to the other three members of the HCN channel family, there are only a few studies of tissue distribution and electrophysiological properties of HCN3 so far. Expression has been reported at low levels, but throughout the brain, in some other tissues such as retina, olfactory epithelium and recently in the heart. Diese HCN-Genfamilie umfasst 4 Isoformen, wobei jede Isoform ein spezifisches Expressionsmuster besitzt. Im Säugetiersinusknoten konnte auf Transkriptebene gezeigt werden, dass HCN4 die dominante HCN Isoform darstellt.
Um die physiologische Funktion von HCN4 aufzuklären wurden in der vorliegenden Arbeit Mäuse generiert und analysiert, die für diese HCN Isoform defizient sind.

Die HCN Familie der Säugetiere besteht aus vier Mitgliedern (HCN1-HCN4), die in unterschiedlichem Ausmass in verschiedenen Regionen von Herz und Gehirn exprimiert werden. Im Rahmen der vorliegenden Arbeit wurden die Bildung von Heteromeren zwischen den einzelnen Isoformen, die Glycosylierung der Kanäle und deren Funktion, die Modulation durch cAMP, die Aktivierung in Bezug auf Kinetik und Spannungsabhängigkeit, sowie die Rolle von HCN Kanal-Genen im Rahmen von genetischen Erkrankungen untersucht.

using Infrared and Raman spectroscopy, elemental analysis, NMR spectroscopy (1H, 13C, 14N)
and X-ray structural analysis. 2,4,6-tribromophenyl azide was recrystallised from ethanol to
give pink needles which are monoclinic, with space group P21/n. The crystal packing diagram
of 2,4,6-tribromophenyl azide shows that every terminal N(3) atom of the azide group has two
intermolecular contacts with two bromine atoms of symetrically related molecules within the
unit cell. The intermolecular distances are N(3) to Br(2)* (x – 0.5, -y-0.5, z-0.5) 3.605 Å and
