Under the SunNew Things Under the SunImporting KnowledgeWhen a scientist or inventor migrates, they take their knowledge with them. Dabei schmücken wir un...2021-10-2226 minThe Independent artist spotlightThe Independent artist spotlightThe Independent artist spotlight, broadcast 152: The Holiday EditionWelcome to the podcast, this is close to 5 hours long but a lot of fun. This presentation offers a novel explanation for this puzzle that emphasises the diffusion of culture and information through internal migration. It tests how migration affected fertility by building a decennial bilateral migration matrix between French regions for 1861–1911. The identification strategy uses exogenous variation in transportation costs resulting from the construction of railways. The results suggest the convergence towards low birth rates can be explained by...2016-05-2545 minArming the DonkeysArming the DonkeysSurprising Effects of Brain DrainDan Ariely, Hillel Rapoport2008-12-2209 min
