Im Parasport kommt der Klassifizierung eine entscheidende und sensible Bedeutung so. Sie entscheidet über funktionelle Tests darüber, in welcher Startklasse die Athlet:innen gegeneinander antreten. Die große Hoffung ist, dass damit möglichst chancengleiche Bedingungen für den Wettkampf hergestellt werden. Das Internationale Paralympische Kommitee (IPC) hat sich diesbezüglich für eine zunehmend evidenzbasierte Klassifizierung ausgesprochen. Eine neue Übersichtsarbeit hat sich um Guidelines einer evidenzbasierten Klassifizierung im Parasport bemüht und dazu 51 Artikel zusammengefasst.
