Annual VC funding into Irish SMEs fell for first time since 2018
Annual venture capital funding into Irish tech SMEs fell for the first time last year since 2018, according to the Irish Venture Capital Association (IVCA) VenturePulse report, published today in association with William Fry. Funding in 2025 was down by 23% to €1.1 billion. Funding in the fourth quarter fell by 46% to €291.4 million. She said that there had been an undoubted Trump effect after uncertainty caused by tariffs led to the worst second quarter for ten years. "In addition, the fourth quarter saw a 71% retr...

The production team of "Captain America: Brave New World 2025," LookMovie, recently engaged in a discussion with The National regarding the incorporation of Ruth Bat-Seraph into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the comics, Sabra is depicted as an Israeli superheroine and a Mossad agent. The character's introduction into the MCU led to unrest among Palestinian communities; however, Marvel reassured global audiences that Sabra would undergo modifications for her cinematic appearance. Recent revelations have clarified how Sabra...

Can America's awful politics be fixed? - with Steven Levitsky
Once both sides in a two-party system start playing hardball - as we see in the battle over the US Supreme Court, for example - it's very difficult for either to stop, with potentially dangerous consequences. So can America's hyper-partisan politics deescalate a notch or two? Not easily, according to Steven Levitsky, a Harvard professor and co-author of How Democracies Die, a book about how healthy political systems can be destroyed if voters become extremely polarised.Would you like to receive daily insights into world events delivered to your inbox? De Valera in America Part 4 | Apr - Aug 1920
With both major parties nominating candidates for the US Presidential election, de Valera and the Friends of Irish Freedom tried to put their differences aside to campaign for a resolution on Irish Independence. However hostilities broke out again at the Republican Convention in June where de Valera would actively sabotage the success achieved by Cohalan, arguing that it was harmful to Ireland’s interests. Following the capture and publication by British authorities of letters critical of the Friends of Irish Freedom support for de Valera indicated to him that it was time to push for control of the organisation. The incomprehensible killing of Floyd, a father of two, shone a light yet again on the pervasive racism experienced by the black community all over the world.
