Mr. Tambourine Man fylder 60: Da The Byrds skabte folk-rock
2. april var det præcis 60 år siden, The Byrds single, ’Mr. Tambourine Man’ udkom. You can’t get around it if you were born anywhere between 1963 and the present day.” Sagt på en anden måde...

Dr. Pete had interesting things to share: Rabies Bird flu Hip surgery Tarantulas as pets Bing Crosby sold orange juice We heard of firemen rescuing a turtle that had fallen into a storm drain, and a dog lost for eight years, reunited with his owner because he had a microchip. The dog had it, not the owner. Charlie taught us all about when to fertilize plants in relation to when the rain falls, as well as his favorite berry that grows locally, that being the blueberry.

Living in Expectation - Jan 12 - The Baptism of Jesus
At the time of Jesus’ appearing, or “epiphany,” the people of Israel were awaiting a hero, a savior— the Messiah. They asked John the Baptist if he might be the one. He assured them he was not, but the Christ was coming, who would baptize with the Holy Spirit and fire. Jesus came and was baptized by John. God the Father‘s voice was heard by witnesses there: “You are my beloved Son; with You I am well pleased.“ Jesus proved himself to be the Messiah by His teaching, through miracles, in the prophecies fulfilled, and ultimately by His death and resurrecti...

What's Wrong and What's Right with the Church, Part 1 - Jan 8 - The Baptism of Jesus
The four churches from first century Asia Minor (present day Turkey) described in Revelation 2 are much like our churches - struggling against the temptation to accommodate herself to the pagan culture in which she sits by engaging in the immorality of that culture, and when she is able to harden herself against those temptations she finds herself loveless and cold to the one who died and was raised for her. But Jesus promises that - in spite of her failings and weaknesses - he is still determined to live amongst his people and rule and reign the whole world through...

GENE BAYLOS comedian's comedian doing stand up comedy
Gene Baylos, nearly making it to 100 (Nov 16, 1906 – Jan 10, 2005) was a Friars Club denizen in New York, and a veteran who hung around with Berle, Henny, Jan Murray, Norm Crosby....everybody but Jerry Lewis, Gene complained that Jerry "stole" his act, or at least copied his "schtick." Gene was the kind of comic who'd walk out on stage, say "I was just at the dentist's office," and spray Chiclets out of his mouth. He was mostly a dependable warm-up act (for Dinah Shore among others) but in his prime, was a headline attraction.
