I wanted to do something peaceful but also a little alien.
I started in Reason, using a bassoon sound and Malström & added a bit from a Bitwig piano & Absynth piece from exactly two years ago. I exported the stems and imported to Ableton Live. In Live, I added the bass part - the native Analog synth. Here, I treated the four parts with various effects and finished.

I started in Reason, using a xylophone sound and two arpeggiated synths. I did two different versions. I brought the entirety of the second longer version plus some of the first into Ableton Live 12.1. Here, I added some alto sax from 2018 and a bit of a manipulated guitar recording from 2008.

For both loops - which were different lengths - I used PitchLoop89, some compression, a warp/stretch mode and a bit of chorus. For this, I put together a 4 track piece in FL Studio and exported stems on Thursday and then reworked those stems along with an altered piece of the full mix in Ableton Live on Friday.
While I was in FL, I edited 32/16 patterns into 29/16 and also some other time sigs. I tried to keep it minimal, which also makes it a bit harder to count out but in the spirit of the prompt’s description, I enjoy the ambiguity.

Bitwig - I started in Bitwig by pulling four samples from Freesound.org, including the one offered for use with this project. After this, I applied different settings of the Tuner device, very wet, different stretch modes and some limiting before exporting the 4 stems.

After this, I set up my sounds with Live’s Operator away from the stock preset and then came up with a pad part. I decided to copy the first two tracks' melody and manipulated it into a bass part. A little audio rendering and editing later, I was complete.

I started with a Nov 2009 “home field recording” I made using a small 1960s transistor radio to detect/probe electromagnetic fields around my apartment, which itself was inspired by Nicolas Collins’ book *Handmade Electronic Music.*
I recorded this using a Sony Cybershot DSC-W50. I recorded things like computer hard drives, a Blackberry phone, a TV, an electric toothbrush, a microwave, a refrigerator and light fixtures using this technique. Not sure what made it onto this piece.

Using a template that includes two Operator instruments, I created a simple arpeggiated arrangement for both and then added a beat that changes incrementally. I also added some brief snippets of unrecognizable computer-generated voicemail from the local pharmacy using Ableton Simpler. I then automated parameters across the length of each track to highlight transformation.

Over the course of a few hours, I recorded alto saxophone in my bathroom six times using my iPhone in various places in the room - in the shower, by the dripping sink, near the running toilet. Any incidental noises in the room - water, movement - have been left in these recordings. The room I used was an important part of my recording.

Running it through MF Randomizer and Scale Bud 2, I split this into three channels - two instances of Strng by Erik Sigth and one instance of iceWorks Kronecker clockwork synth, each individually recorded and also summed to a 4th bus channel.
