Homily Easter 2, April 19, 2020
Send us Fan MailIt’s the evening of that same first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked. (John 20:19) Once again, we find ourselves entering into the world of the text, for we, too, are locked inside our homes.

Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, October 2019
Send us Fan MailOn our last pilgrimage to the Holy Land, we had Mass inside the Edicule, which is a small shrine or chapel inside the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. On the Holy Saturday Orthodox celebration, the holy fire is brought out from the tomb of christ to light the Paschal Candle and all the candles and torches inside the Church. Here's a picture of the Holy Fire. http://photoblog.nbcnews.com/_news/2011/04/23/6518185-christian-orthodox-holy-fire-ceremony-lights-up-the-church-of-the-holy-sepulchre-in-jerusalem?liteYou can see more information about the restoration of the Edicule here: https://news.nationalgeographic.com
