BTBA presents: 生技來一刻腦與神經科學系列：藥廠神經藥物開發的現況觀察與前景 ft. 黃正球博士「這是一個最好的時代，也是一個最壞的時代」，狄更斯的這句話，說出了許多神經生物背景求職者的心聲。一方面，2013 年歐巴馬總統推動了 BRAIN Initiative，政府投入了大量的研究經費企圖解密神秘的大腦，讓腦與神經成為繼基因解碼後的下一個聖杯，開啟了腦與神經科學的大航海時代。另一方面，神經藥物的在藥廠的發展依然跌跌撞撞，神經藥物開發的困難和時長讓許多大藥廠怯步，2018 年大藥廠輝瑞 Pfizer 退出了神經藥物開發、2019 年大藥廠 Amgen 也跟進裁撤神經部門，形成了神經藥物研發的寒冬。雖然 FDA 去年（2023 年）通過了第一個可以減緩阿茲海默症進程的藥物，但神經藥物研發的寒冬真的過去了嗎？神經生物博士生們又該如何自處呢？
