「あれやってこれやってあれやって、右いって左いって右いって、上いって下いって上いって、てんてこまいまいまいまいまい my mind ♪」っていうウルフルズの歌を口ずさむほどの忙しさではないんですがなんとなくそんな気分になってる金曜の板倉です、こんにちは。
「１％の情熱ものがたり」81人目のインタビュー、最終エピソード。「変わった子供だったと思う。」5歳で母親を亡くし、生きる意味を考え探していた幼少期から思春期へ。一人で過ごしたクリスマスの日、振り返れば人生を大きく変えたトランペットとの出会いとその衝撃。そして転機となったグリーンカードの当選、Jazzの中心地ニューヨークでの生活が音楽家としての生き方を洗練させていったのでしょう。仲間やレジェンドたちと共に奏で揺らす音楽というストーリー、その美しさを垣間見る幸せがそこにはきっとあるはず。限られた時間の中での断片的な質問に対して、真摯に受け答えをしてくれる語り口調から大きな優しさと強さを感じました。深い眼差しで微笑みながら「これでいいのだ」と思えたら成功です、と生き方を諭してくれるようなRyoさんの情熱ものがたり。

中学2年生という多感な時期、一人で過ごすクリスマスの日にTVを見て出会ったWynton Marsalisのトランペット演奏。その時に受けた衝撃は、今もRyoさんの心の中に生き続けていると思うと本当に音楽そのものと人が人に与える影響や情熱の力ってすごいなぁって思い知らされます。
