Everything follows the lower, WHICH MEANS THE ESSENCE IS TO DRAW SANCTITY DOWN TO MALCHUT. We have learned about the commandments of the Master of the Universe, as it is written, "And you shall keep My commandments, and do them." HE ASKS, If they need keeping, WHEN THEN DOES THIS INCLUDE DOING AS WELL, and why DOES IT SAY, "and do them?" Furthermore, HE ASKS, all the commandments in the Torah have two Facets that are one, NAMELY 'remember' and 'keep;' 'remember' is for the Male, NAMELY ZEIR...

Shabbat Shalom from Shmuel!
Emor (Leviticus 21:1 - 24:23)
Portion Emor gives a puzzling command to the priests among the Children of Israel: they are not to approach or touch a dead body. In answer to this command, Shmuel shares two vastly different perspectives on death.Death plays an important role, as this week’s Torah portion coincides with Israel’s Memorial Day, Independence Day, and the memorial for Shmuel’s late father. Amid death, memory, and Emor, Shmuel shares hopeful insights into the human soul and the strength of the nation of Israel. Click here to watch on YouTube.

Torah Portion 31 Emor (אמור) - Say
The Torah portion called Emor, which translates to "And the Lord said to Moses," focusing on purity laws for priests and their familial duties. The highlight, however, is the discussion on the biblical holidays listed in Leviticus 23, exploring their significance beyond being "Jewish feasts" to their mention as "the Lord's feasts." Modern Christians deviate from these holidays, despite their basis in both the Old and New Testaments. Lets addresses misconceptions about these feasts, particularly through a discussion of Paul's letters and his background as a student of law under Gamaliel. This exploration emphasizes the inclusion of Gentiles in these...

Parshat Emor: What Does The Omer Offering Have To Do With The Jewish Holidays?
In Parshat Emor, we read through the laws and details of the Biblical holidays. But this section also includes a few other laws - like the Omer offering, and agricultural laws like Pe’ah and Leket. Why are those laws included with the Jewish holidays? Zohar Hasulam - Emor - p.35 - Holiness and those summoned from holiness - par 103 - 15/05/24 Emor: Verse Rabbi Aba said, "holiness gatherings" MEANS summoning of holiness, WHICH IS SUPERNAL ABA AND IMA, WHICH ARE CHOCHMAH. When they are summoned TO THAT PLACE CALLED HOLINESS, it is done from the flowing river, BINAH. THIS IS LIKENED to a king, who summoned people to his feast, and bestowed on them different victuals, and opened before them skins of scented wine that is good to drink. For so it ought to be, that whoever summons, does so to eat and drink. So "summoned from holiness" means that since they are invited to the king's feast, they are also invited to the goodly and worthy preserved wine. Hence it is written, "summoned from holiness, which you shall proclaim in their seasons."

"These are the feasts of Hashem, holy gatherings, which you shall proclaim in their seasons" (Vayikra 23:4). Rabbi Yitzchak opened with, "Of You my heart has said, Seek My face, Your face, Hashem, I seek" (Tehilim 27:8). This verse has been explained in several places; yet we learned THE MEANING OF this verse this way: David said, "Of You my heart has said" for the Congregation of Yisrael, MALCHUT, before the Holy King, ZEIR ANPIN. What did it say, NAMELY, "Of You my heart has said" - for Your sake, ZEIR ANPIN, my heart said to the people in the world and my heart, which is attached TO MALCHUT, admonished them. It said, "Seek My face" for the supernal King (THAT IS, SEEK THE FACE OF ZEIR ANPIN), which refers to the King's crowns, MOCHIN OF ZEIR ANPIN, to which He is attached, and they to Him. They are His name, FOR THEY ARE ALSO THE MOCHIN OF MALCHUT CALLED HIS NAME, and He, ZEIR ANPIN, and His name, MALCHUT, are the same. Hence David said, "Your face, Hashem, I seek," as, "Seek Hashem, and His strength. Seek His face continually" (Tehilim 105:4). Emor: Verse 101 ת"ח, י...

Parsha Talk Emor 5781. Rabbis Eliot Malomet, Jeremy Kalmanofsky and Barry Chesler
Parashah Talk for Emor [Lev. 21-24) was recorded a day early this week, but as befits a parashah entitled Emor [“Say”], we had a lot about which to talk. We covered the material in the parashah: the curious wording of the 1st verse in the Hebrew (21:1), the requirements, restrictions, and limitations on the kohen [priest] (21-22), the notion of qiddush ha-shem [sanctification of God’s name] (22:31-33), the holidays (23), and the blasphemer (24). We took note of current events, the death of Bernie Madoff, and connected it with the Torah reading. Before you know it, we will be concluding the Book of Lev...

Parsha Panorama - Emor: Connecting the Kohanic Code, the Calendar & the Curser👳🏻♂️🗓🗣
A panoramic view of Parshas Emor with a focus on the following questions: ● Most of Emor is devoted to the laws of Kohanim and the Moadim. What is the connection between the two? ● Why are the laws of the Menorah and Shulchan thrown into the Parsha, right after the Moadim? ● Why does Vayikra veer from its law format to present a story of the M'kaleil ('Curser') here at the end of Emor?

Deeper Look At The Parsha
EMOR - THE MESSAGE OF SEFIRAT HA'OMER
The passage that instructs us to bring the Omer offering and count the Omer is in Parshat Emor, in the chapter that describes and defines all the festivals (Vayikra 23). But although Sefirat Ha'omer falls between the first day of Pesach and Shavuot, it is not a festival, so what is doing in that chapter? Rabbi Dunner goes through the Netivot Shalom, who answers this question, and also addresses the weird requirement to wave the Omer offering and the Shavuot "Two Loaves" offering that concludes the Omer counting period. As it turns out, Sefirat Ha'omer is emblematic of the process we...

Meshekh Chokhmah – Emor
Part of parashas Emor (VaYiqra 22:26-23:44) contains a survey of the holy days of the year. It is well known because it is also read on the first day(s) of Sukkos and in the diaspora, the second day of Pesach. The Meshekh Chokhmah makes a profound statement in his commentary on the end of 23:21, in the description of Shavuos,... The post Meshekh Chokhmah – Emor appeared first on Aspaqlaria.

Three Versions of Shabbat (Emor 5779)
"I am delighted to share with you the newest cycle of Covenant & Conversation essays on the weekly parsha (Torah reading). I am particularly excited to introduce a Family Edition accompaniment to this year's series which has two main aims. First, to present the ideas in Covenant & Conversation in a simplified way, making my ideas more accessible to children and teenagers. Second, to act as an educational resource for parents, teachers and anyone else to engage their children and students in meaningful and stimulating conversations about the parsha." Parsha Lab from Aleph Beta
Ep 15. Emor: What Does the Omer Offering Have To Do With the Jewish Holidays?
In Parshat Emor, we read through the laws and details of the Biblical holidays. But this section also includes a few other laws - like the Omer offering, and agricultural laws like Pe’ah and Leket. Why are those laws included with the Jewish holidays? Join Rabbi Fohrman and Rivky as they re-examine the Emor text, and discover its subtle shared language with a few other texts of the Torah — and never about Parshat Emor the same way again.
