Ep 26: Alignment, Astrology and Star Twins with Author Jessie Rosen
How aligned are we, really, to our astrology charts? When you read your horoscope, does it feel spot‑on? A star twin is someone born within a two‑hour window of you, same date, same year. While Jessie’s book is fiction, her research was very real. She went looking for her own star twins and, through t...

musician Laura Veirs

Episode 534: Laura Veirs
Twelve albums in, Laura Veirs is ready for a fresh start. Emerging from a breakup album dealing with the detachment from her husband and longtime producer, Found Light arrives this month like a jolt of light night. It’s been a strange and fascinating journey to get here. After studying geology and Mandarin, she threw herself into music full-time and never looked back.nAs a songwriter, she’s wildly prolific. For each of the dozen records, a hundred or more songs are written. As processes go, she readily admits it’s not the most efficient – but the results speak for themselv...

k.d. lang Reflects On 25 Years Of 'Ingénue'
Back in 1992, singer k.d. lang released a record unlike any other. Ingénue slithered against the popular music grain with songs that drew slow, deep breaths and sighed seductively. It had an alluringly divergent sound that landed somewhere in a blurry nexus of pop, country and global folk, with accordions, clarinets and Eastern European flourishes. And lang's monumental voice, both powerful and restrained, was simply unforgettable as she sang languorous songs of love and desire.Ingénue became a monstrous, multi-platinum hit for lang, but it was also a milestone in the '90s LGBT rights movement. Against her la...
