Season2 第5回では、学部4年の小栗章太郎さんが、"健康管理"をテーマにお話しします。日本は超高齢化社会だと言われて久しいですが、「35%」という数字が何を表しているのかご存知でしょうか。実は、2040年の日本の予想高齢化率です。来るべき未来に備えて、若い内から健康に気を配ることがこれまで以上に重要視されてきています。今回は健康な生活を営む上で欠かせない食事と運動に焦点を当て、私自身の取り組みを紹介しながら日々の生活習慣についての新しい解釈を試みます。
時事トピックスは、"代替肉"についてです。動物由来の肉がなんとなく環境に良くないことは知っているものの、代替肉にチャレンジするのは少し抵抗があるという方もいらっしゃると思います。そこで、具体的な環境負荷を数字で表しながら、案外普段よく行くお店に植物由来製品のメニューがあることをご紹介します。「えっ、あのお店にも⁈」と意外な発見があるかもしれません。

突然ですが、あなたは外国語の勉強が好きですか？日本の学校では、多くの生徒が中学から高校まで英語を勉強し、大学では「第2外国語」として英語以外の言語をもう1つ履修します。「ゲーム」や「コンピュータ」など日常には外来語が溢れていますが、初めて「外国語」として意識したのは中学へ上がって英語に出会った時ではないでしょうか。その出会いは、あなたにとってどのようなものでしたか？
私の予想では、おそらく外国語はあまり良い印象を持たれていないと思います。当たっているでしょうか？確かに英語は覚えることが大変多く、不規則な変化も多いためアレルギーを起こしてしまう方もいると聞きます。大学でも、第2外国語はみんなの嫌われ者です。出席は取られるし、辞書は重いし、ネイティブの先生は日本語を話してくれないし、正直興味ない。こんな空気が教室中に充満しています。米国現代語文学協会によると、アメリカの大学でも外国語履修者数は2009年をピークにどんどん減少しており、外国語嫌いは日本だけではないようです。
そもそも、機械翻訳が着実に発達しつつある現代において、あえて多大な時間とお金と労力をかけてまで外国語を学ぶ意味とはなんでしょうか？…
